Identification of new biomarkers and therapeutic targets for MDR tumours
The main objective of WG1 is to analyse the available data-resources on large clinical cohort of patients bearing solid tumours by bioinformatic and computational biology, to quickly integrate data of gene expression profile, proteome, RNOme/miRNOME profile in chemosensitive and isogenic MDR cancer cells, in order to identify new biomarkers predictive/diagnostic of MDR phenotype and new therapeutic targets in MDR tumours. The data will allow the identification of specific biomarkers/therapeutic targets involved in the MDR phenotype of cancer stem cells (CSCs) or in the intercellular transfer of MDR phenotype, focusing on microvesicles released by MDR tumours. By means of high-throughput pharmacogenomic and pharmacoproteomic analyses, WG1 intends to create a starting hub for WG2 to properly refine drug design/selection of natural compounds, for WG3 for the biological efficacy assay, and for WG4 to verify the safety of hitting a specific therapeutic target.
